Meeting Minutes, 7.2.09
The July meeting was held at Ben and Mary’s GJ ceramics at 7:00 PM on Thursday the second.
Members in attendance were Ron Cloyd, Jan McRae, Bob Peterson, Bonnie Hellman, Jack Griggs, Mickie Harshman, Pat Feinberg, Susan Wallace, Ben and Mary McFarlin, Bob Walsh and Cindy Logue.
We had a first meeting for a new member this month. Big welcome to Annie Stanfield! Annie works primarily in low fired mosaics. We are all anxious to see what she does.
We are planning on firing the GLOW WORM kiln over the Labor Day weekend. Anyone interested in participating in this should start getting some pieces ready for the kiln. For those who haven’t seen this, it is a wood fired kiln made from ceramic fiber. Very spectacular! See the photo posted on our site home page.
This month’s program was a report / demonstration by Bonnie Hellman and Mickie Harshman on Vince Pitelka’s workshop at Bonnie’s Ouray studio. We were shown some very nice pieces, and saw how they were made. The work that the ladies described was slab building using both cardstock patterns, and foam hump molds.
