November 2010 minutes
Upcoming shows, election of officers and Harold's departure
The November meeting was held at Wayne’s GJ Ceramics on Thursday the 4th. Members in attendance were Ron Cloyd, Harold Snider, Wayne Petefish, Carol Proud, Ruth McCrea, Betty Cotter, Dave Carnes, Susan Wallace, Ronda Clark, and Gen Morris.
Business this month:
December 2nd will be Harold Snider’s last regular meeting, as he is moving to Utah. This one will be primarily a wine and cheese sendoff for Harold. Location to be announced at a later date. Also at the December meeting we will have ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Everyone please try and attend, your input is important.
We are booked for the 2011 Art Center show for September. We will set up on the 30th and 31st, and run through the 30th of the month. We will be in the Gould Gallery.
We are also booked for a guild show at the Creamery Art Center in Hotchkiss for the month of June. We will be in the Churro Gallery. For those who haven’t been to the Creamery, it is a first class venue, with excellent sales. I will provide more details on that one as they are available.
Ruth McCrea has approached the KAFM radio room gallery for an exhibit there. As details become available on this one, I will pass them to the membership.
We will have our annual holiday party sometime in January, the date has not yet been determined.
We had a new member join our group this month. Welcome to Andy Henderson! Andy is new to the valley, and is relatively new to the world of mud. He has been taking lessons from Damien Radice.
This month’s activity was viewing and discussing teapots. Quite a number of these were passed around and looked at. We talked about spouts, pouring, handles, lids and surfaces.
Ashtonn Means has set up a Facebook page for the guild. For those of you who use FB, you can type Grand Junction Clay Arts Guild in the FB search bar, and it will take you right to it. Thanks Ashtonn!!
Also, as always, suggestions for future meeting activities are needed. Please call or email me with your ideas!
